So my lovely wife came up with a swell brain wave for Halloween this year. Instead of simply going around and collecting a bunch of sugar & treats, why not try to help people in Uganda collect safe drinking water? Seems logical to me! So the idea was born! We will sell hotdogs and a drink for $5 bones and donate all the money to Compassion! And sell we did. But first, it needed a name. The “Hallowiener!” (I came up with this title all on my own with no help from anybody else. Ignore whatever tales people may tell out of school). It fuses both halloween and hotdogs. What’s not to love? 120 hotdogs sold and a pile of extra donations! Grand total: $881.10!!! This translates into nearly 9 clean water collection systems or third of the way to a well for a community. Woot!! 😀 A humungous thank you to everyone for their generosity. It was a sucker-cold and windy halloween so we were super glad to see so many people stop by and warm up at the hallowiener! 😎
Enjoyed a little photo walk for an hour late this afternoon. Gorgeous weather for a stroll in the ol’ ravine behind our place. One camera, one lens: D800 & 105mm macro. Still such a versatile combination. 😎 Just meandering along, looking for light, colour & texture. Very therapeutic!
Here’s a couple shots from a wedding we did a little while ago but didn’t make the blog until now! We had a super fun time with this wedding in the awesome little community of Miniota, MB. You never know what to expect in small prairie towns but Miniota really brings the thunder. Great little town, super friendly people, gorgeous golf course and a great selection of ales at the liquor store! (We arrived early and the girls hair wasn’t quite done yet so we took a tour). 😎 The ceremony took place at the golf course beneath some beautiful big trees. The weather was great which is always a huge blessing for an outdoor wedding. The only hiccup was that for a short time the rings were lost. #BestManFail! LOL But they found them thankfully and everything went off without a hitch. So congrats again to Jarrid & Melanie! It was a blast!
